In this Professional Development session, participants were introduced to our brain empowerment program designed to teach children mindful self-regulation skills and brain-building techniques. The training emphasized key brain functions, specifically the roles of the amygdala (responsible for emotional responses), the hippocampus (which supports memory), and the prefrontal cortex (responsible for problem-solving). Educators learned how teaching children about these brain functions helps them better manage emotions and behavior, fostering a sense of safety and empowerment.
The session also introduced practical tools like puppets and breathing exercises, which are used to make brain concepts accessible to children. Puppets representing parts of the brain—such as Guard Dog (amygdala), Miss Elephante (hippocampus), and Wise Owl (prefrontal cortex)—help children visualize and understand their brain’s role.
Participants explored how creating safe relationships and consistent self-regulation practices in the classroom can positively impact students’ emotional well-being and academic performance. Below are the resources shared to help teachers integrate these practices into daily routines to help create a calmer, more focused learning environment.
