In this Professional Development workshop, Dr. Chris Willard models neuroscience-based practices that can be used by teachers, therapists, and others looking for creative ways to share mindful self-regulation to boost learning, mental health and more. We explore mindfulness through awareness, movement, games, play, and creative activities for all ages and abilities.
Learning differences, cultural differences, developmental differences, and more all affect how children learn best, and this workshop explores ways to adapt mindfulness, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. We discuss tailoring techniques to a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, executive function challenges, trauma and stress. Different practices will engage different learning styles through arts, sports, games, music, technology and more, for attention spans ranging from 30 seconds to 30 minutes. We also explore practices for us, the educators, to manage our stress.
