Using Puppets

To bring the three key players in the brain to life, FocusedKids uses puppets. There is one puppet for each of the key players in the brain.

Check out this video of Ms. Amanda introducing the three key players to students in the brain and the puppets for each one.

Why puppets? The use of puppets is rooted in play therapy. Puppets offer a buffer between the child and adult. For children, especially those who have experienced trauma, the puppets offer an alternative to interacting directly with a teacher or caregiver. Children often feel more comfortable expressing their thoughts, feelings, and ideas to puppets that act as a safe and non-threatening entity to engage with.

When teaching children the FocusedKids Method, these puppets allow you to role-play, engage in conversations with children via the puppet, and explore different ideas.
