Foundations: Brain Education

You know just how curious students can be. They seem to always want to know why things work the way they do; or in other words, what makes things tick.

At FocusedKids we’ve found that teaching students social emotional skills on their own is great. And, when we teach them about the brain structures and processes that underpin those social emotional skills, they come away feelings even more empowered to use their newly learned social emotional skills.

One of the things that makes the FocusedKids Method unique is this focus on brain education. In placing an emphasis on brain education, FocusedKids explains the cognitive foundations that lead to social emotional wellbeing. This leaves students (and teachers) feeling empowered to exert more influence on their own brain structures and processes. And, makes challenging behaviors and emotions more understandable and approachable.

So, if you hear us talking about brain-based social emotional learning, you now know why.
