In society today, gratitude is an overplayed word that can often have a negative stigma. However, there is real science behind the power of a regular gratitude practice. Research shows that gratitude elevates our own well-being by improving mood, ability to handle adversity, and the quality of relationships.
In this Professional Development session, Amanda shares ways that teachers can strengthen their own gratitude practice and then help their students develop those skills. It’s important to remember that in FocusedKids’ Social Emotional Model gratitude is a higher social emotional skill. Safe relationships and self regulation come first. Once those skills are developed, it will be easier for students to access gratitude. At that point, teachers can begin to incorporate more gratitude practices into the classroom as students work toward building greater awareness of self.
