The February Professional Development session of the 2025-2026 school year, led by Kathy Flaminio, founder of movemindfully, and Judy Richardson-Mahre, founder of Kaleidoscope Coaching and Counseling, provided educators with valuable insights into ADHD, aiming to dispel myths and enhance understanding of the condition's impact on learning and behavior. This session emphasized the importance of recognizing how executive functions influence students' ability to focus and engage in the classroom. Teachers learned about the challenges faced by students with ADHD, including difficulties with attention management and the role of interest-based motivation in their learning processes.
Participants explored practical strategies, including the integration of "Breathe Move Rest" practices, which helped students regulate their nervous systems and maintain focus throughout the school day. The workshop also highlighted the significance of creating supportive environments that foster self-regulation and connection among students. By equipping teachers with research-backed knowledge and effective tools, the workshop aimed to empower them to better support students with ADHD, ultimately enhancing the educational experience for all learners in their classrooms.
