FOCUSEDKIDS™ FOR FUNDERS
FocusedKids™ for Funders
Welcome, funders! This is the place to learn about opportunities to support the work FocusedKids™ is doing in homes, schools, and throughout the community.
Research & Benefits
From the current research in child development, we know that children need experiences that are repeated and intentional to develop a healthy brain. There are certain neuro-connections required for them to self-regulate. They must learn and practice certain behaviors to delay gratification, contain urges to react, focus their attention, and manage themselves in healthy, productive ways. Their brain is wired to learn these skills, but they must practice, many times, certain behaviors for success. FocusedKids™ provides a framework for this learning.
FocusedKids™ Programs
FocusedKids™ relies on donations to make our programs accessible to students, parents, caregivers, and teachers in the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond. Your generous donation is tax deductible and will help support the following programs for years to come:
- FocusedKids™ curriculum development for Pre-K through 3rd Grades
- FocusedKids™ Intensive for children with special needs
- FocusedFamiles™ workshops and courses
- Teacher trainings via Zoom
- FocusedKids™ classes
- FocusedKids™ books
Family Stress Relief Fund
Due to the rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19, and the unprecedented situation with classes being cancelled, FocusedKids™ has set up a relief fund to support three non-profits: Family Resource Center, Valley Settlement Program and Early Childhood Network. We are collaborating with these organizations to support families without the means to support themselves through this time and are distributing funding to those most in need. These are crucial grants, sometimes meaning three meals a day versus one, and covering rent costs to avoid eviction.
We continue to receive about 20 to 30 referrals per day from our non-profit partners. To learn more, read the article that appeared in the Aspen Times on April 24. Donations can be made on our website or by sending a check to FocusedKids, 140 River Oaks Ln, Basalt, CO 81621.
2020-21 Annual Update
When the COVID-19 crisis hit, FocusedKids had to quickly adjust to the new realities in order to preserve the continuity in our delivery. Moving from daily delivery of lessons into an average of 20 classrooms a day, to taking everything online with participants who were unfamiliar with even Zoom technology was no small task.
Our 2020-21 Annual Update outlines how we have been able to successfully pivot our program to address the needs of the pandemic. Despite all the past couple of years have thrown our way, FocusedKids’ purpose remains steady: to help families, teachers, and kids build safe relationships and stable, happy brains.
